District court The Hague: statements by SOMO defamatory, rectification required
With this post, we revisit previous coverage, and our statement of May 26th on SASMOS, Israel and Gaza.

We recently initiated legal proceedings against Stichting Onderzoek Multinationale Ondernemingen (SOMO). This in response to SOMO's publication in which serious and incorrect allegations were made. Because of its nature and impact, we chose to have this judicially reviewed.
On September 2, 2025, the district court of The Hague ruled that SOMO had not exercised due care and had acted unlawfully with its statements. SOMO was therefore ordered to post a rectification text, on its website, LinkedIn, Instagram and BlueSky.
The rectification text ordered by the court reads as follows:
“In our article entitled ‘Short-circuiting international law’ as published on 22 May 2025 on our website, we accused three named Dutch businessmen associated with the company Lumipol of being personally involved in the supply of electronic components to four Israeli arms manufacturers and we associated them with complicity in genocide and war crimes. In its judgment of 2 September 2025, the judge of the District Court of The Hague ruled that SOMO has gone too far since the personal involvement is not fully supported by the facts. For that reason the judge ordered SOMO to publish this correction.
